If Wishes Were Horses

If wishes were horses,
then I would like to go back in time,
to make and unmake, things too numerous to mention
to unmake my imperfections and relive my perfections
to laugh every single day at the ease and beauty of life.

If wishes were horses,
then I would like to go back in time,
to tell special ones how much they mean to me,
that though life matters, its quality outweighs its quantity.

If wishes were horses,
then I would ride into the future,
build schools and hospitals for millions of African children,
create millions of upper middle class jobs in Africa,
offer diligent service to my motherland
and help build Africa into a great abode.

If wishes were horses,
into the future I will ride,
conquer the world, not with guns or violence
but plenty of intellect, wisdom and charisma,
own the earth, subdue and nurture it
and place my exploits at the feet of Christ for His nod of approval.

Wishes are not horses,
Hence, I must live with the choices I have made in the past,
build on my strength and learn from my mistakes,
cherish good memories and live with the bad ones,
work with other visionaries and rebuild Africa,
conquer the world, one day at a time, step by step.

Wishes are not horses, I must work very hard.
